The Devil is the Night
There’s nothing quite like night photography in my mind. I love it. Everything seems so still and so quiet, even in the middle of a big city. There’s nothing like the feeling of peace I get when waiting on a ten minute exposure. And nothing like the feeling of developing what you’ve shot having no earthly idea of what you really have. So my hat’s off to Andy Frazer and his night photography blog. May darkness take hold.
Irony Defined
You have to love the digital age when the one of the top five black and white photography tips is to shoot in color. So much for vision, so much for elegance. Just close your eyes, snap the shutter, and figure it all out later.
Building a Camera
Building my own view camera is something I’ve always wanted to try. I even got to the point where I put together a plan and almost bought the wood. Then I decided I didn’t actually have the woodworking skills to do an adequate job. I admire those who do. So needless to say, finding a blog documenting the process of building a folding view camera captured my attention.

Everything is Free
What does this have to do with photography? Nothing really, except to say free is where it’s at. Speaking as someone who’s spent the last twenty years as an engineer in the semiconductor industry, it’s been amazing to watch things change, and change so fast. What seemed so complicated to conceive and build just ten years ago, is deemed simple today. Free indeed.
